Four months since joining the Palletways network, investing £300,000 into new vehicles and recruiting new employees, PPS Logistics in Kilmarnock has received a prestigious business award in recognition of its growth during 2022.
From its base at 11 Simonsburn Road, PPS offers a range of freight services, including pallets, same-day and international deliveries.
The Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce recognises high performing businesses in the region while the Business Awards are designed to promote success.
To be considered for the award, representatives from the University of the West of Scotland reviewed all candidates in the category and conducted a rigorous interview of employees from PPS. The logistics firm was announced as winner of the ‘Rapid Riser’ award based on its resilient growth strategy and its exceptional growth to date. This includes building the company from zero to a workforce of 130 employees and boasting an 80-strong fleet of vehicles in just two years.
Andrew Muir, Managing Director at PPS, said: “We aim to be a long-serving member of the Ayrshire business community, supporting local businesses with their logistics requirements. This award is for the team and every one of our customers and partners who continue to support us.”
Gordon Irvine, Regional General Manager (North) at Palletways UK, said: “PPS is a first-class team that delivers consistently brilliant results for its customers and our congratulations go to the whole team.”
When it first joined the Palletways network, PPS was responsible for covering selected postcodes in Ayrshire, and has since grown to cover a wider South-Glasgow base.
To service the additional postcode areas, PPS has recently ploughed thousands of pounds into the expansion of its fleet of vehicles and increased the company’s headcount to 30, recruiting a host of new employees, including forklift truck drivers, Class 1 and 2 drivers and new additions to the customer services team.
