Palletways member celebrates network anniversary with £4m fleet and facility investment

D&D Transport

To celebrate its two year ‘member milestone’ as part of the Palletways UK network, a Nottinghamshire-based logistics specialist has marked the occasion with the delivery of ten new vehicles and the launch of a new storage facility.

D&D Transport‘s multi-million pound investment has seen the Langley Mill-based company acquire ten Renault T High Turbo Compound trucks. The new vehicles are equipped with technologies to improve fuel efficiency and performance, which will assist D&D with improving their carbon footprint. Expansion of its fleet will help the business handle the surge in demand for palletised freight across the Matlock, Alfreton, Bakewell and Ripley areas of Derby.

To meet the growth in demand, D&D Transport has also opened a new 14000 sq.ft storage and sortation facility at its Langley Mill depot which will double the firms’ pallet storage capacity to over 2000 pallets.

This investment coincides with the firm’s second anniversary as part of the Palletways network. Since joining Palletways in 2021, D&D Transport has handled more than 100,000 pallets for customers across the UK and Europe within the Manufacturing and Distribution sectors. During this time D&D Transport has increased the size of its fleet to 50 vehicles and employs 60 members of staff.

Dave Palmer, managing director for D&D Transport, said: “We’ve experienced tremendous growth over recent months and we have taken on three new large-scale accounts. Our recent investment to expand our fleet and open a new facility means we can handle and increase in volumes and operate more efficient which in turn will improve customer satisfaction.

“This is the largest investment in the history of our company, it’s a huge milestone that sends a strong message to Palletways about our commitment to the network. Our business is stronger as a result of being part of the network, the result of its industry-leading technology, innovations and excellent customer service.”

Warwick Trimble, network director for Palletways UK, said: “D&D Transport are a solid contributor towards the growth of Palletways UK in the East Midlands. The firms’ success is testament to the hard work of the entire team and thanks to this recent investment, we’ll look forward to following their growth story over the months and years to come.”
